Annual Giving Update

As of Tuesday, December 11, we have received 64 pledges for 2013—including 5 new pledgers.  This is 67% of the total number of pledges (96) received for 2012.  We certainly expect more pledges to arrive in the next weeks and encourage anyone who has not made their pledge to do so as soon as possible.  The budgeting process for 2013 will begin on Monday, December 17 when the Budget Committee meets—hopefully a majority of pledges will be in by that time.  The current total received is $170,456.  Last year’s total was $232,013.

ITGLogoAs Trinity Church's IN THE GARDEN ministry reflects on 2012 and plans for the new year, we feel blessed and excited about the possibilities which lie ahead! During the past year we have doubled the number of folks who come to the Trinity Undercroft to worship and share a hot meal each Sunday, and we are planning ways to expand our ministry and bring new efficiencies and better procedures to all we do. We have added some new groups who will help provide meals, but we have lost one significant donor for the coming year. Our community of regular worshippers has grown and more and more take an active continuing part in each Sunday's events, from setting up, serving, and clean-up to participation in worship and planning for the future. In 2013 we will start a Leadership Bible Study each week to further build the spiritual growth and leadership skills of our community. We will also be open a few hours on "holiday Mondays" for fellowship to give IN THE GARDEN attendees a place to gather when the downtown libraries and other public facilities are closed.
From time to time church members and even entire families have decided to provide a meal or meals for IN THE GARDEN as a service project or gift to the church; others have done so as a way to give thanks or celebrate a family milestone. If you would like to consider putting together a group to provide a meal in 2013, the IN THE GARDEN core team and worshippers would welcome your support and, if desired, would be happy to help you plan your meal. Currently we are seeking meal providers for the following Sundays: January13, June 2, June 9, Aug. 11, Sept. 15. If you prefer another date, we can work with you to make that possible. Please consider becoming a part of the IN THE GARDEN ministry as a Host, a Volunteer, or by providing a meal, and help us grow in bringing the work of Jesus to the downtown street community!

Honor the Prices, save lives

PricesOn November 2, 2012, clergy and laity gathered at Procter Center to wish blessings on Bishop Ken and Mariann Price as they began their retirement. That same night, the Diocese of Southern Ohio announced its gift to honor the Prices' service: a gift to Episcopal Relief & Development's NetsforLife® Inspiration Fund. The goal is to raise at least $18,000 - one thousand for each year the Prices have been with us - which will be matched by the Procter Fund.
Each net distributed by NetsforLife®saves up to three lives, and each net, along with education on how to use it, costs just $12. A gift of $25 today will provide two families with hope and save up to six children; if you take part in this incredible project today, your gift will be doubled by the Procter Fund. Your gift of $25 will become $50 and protect twelve lives. And if you offer your gift before December 31, 2012, Episcopal Relief & Development will double it again - and your $25, which became $50, will become $100.
