Toward Our Mutual Flourishing ConferenceThe Ecumenical and Inter-Religious Commission of the Diocese of Southern Ohio cordially invites you to participate in a one-day consultation on The Episcopal Church’s Theological Statement on Inter-Religious engagement entitled “Toward Our Mutual Flourishing.” The consultation, which will feature eminent inter-religious scholar Dr. Lucinda Mosher and The Rt. Rev. Thomas E. Breidenthal, D. Phil, will also focus on the question: What does it means to engage religious many-ness at a pastoral level in the Diocese of Southern Ohio?

The Absalom Jones Annual celebration will be held at Christ Church Cathedral on Saturday, February 14, 2015. The format will be a Symposium and Festive Eucharist. The Symposium will begin at 9:00 am and conclude at 3:15 p.m. followed by the Festive Eucharist at 3:30 p.m. featuring the world acclaim Jazz ensemble, “Theodicy” along with a Diocesan Mass Choir.
The theme for this year’s celebration is: “Renewing Our Commitment to the Ministry of Social Justice and Reconciliation.”
The keynote speaker for the Symposium will be The Rev. Dr. Clarence G. Newsome, President of the Underground Railroad Freedom Center and the preacher The Rev. Dr. Kelly Brown Douglas, the Elizabeth Conolly Todd Distinguished Professor of Philosophy and religion at Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland. She is also a leading voice in the development of womanist theology.
Given the current state of affairs with respect to race in America as well as recent incidents in Fergusson, Missouri, Cleveland, Ohio and Brooklyn, New York a panel discussion and several workshops will be offered that speak to Race, Gender and Economic Equality in the context of justice. The workshops are: Social Justice and Reconciliation:
These workshops will help us live into the mission of justice and learn more about new legislation being proposed to impact a more equitable justice system.
All are invited to be part of this creative and timely Symposium and Festive Eucharist.

Soul Collage Workshop, March 13th - 14th at the EASE GalleryArt as a Spiritual Connection™ and Praxis Communities will offer a SoulCollage® Workshop on Friday, March 13th to Saturday, March 14th. SoulCollage® is a creative art experience that combines creativity, spirituality, and psychology. Through a simple process of cutting and pasting images from magazines, participants will create a unique set of cards that will help them access their inner wisdom, quiet their thinking mind, and allow space for the voice of the Holy Spirit to emerge. The workshop is limited to 12 participants. The cost is $60. The EASE Gallery is located at Saint Stephen’s (30 W. Woodruff Avenue, Columbus). Remembering friends and family members related to this community, we pray for Petty Officer Kristy Sizemore, Cynthia Epler, Matt Schumann, Commander Scott Whaley, Gunnery Sergeant Robert A Griffith Jr., and all who serve our country.
Today we pray for peace throughout the world, especially in Ukraine.
We renew our commitments to serve the poorest in our midst and remember all who are homeless and hungry in our city today. We give thanks for the generous hospitality offered this afternoon at In The Garden, and pray for the Holy Spirit’s abundant grace in our fellowship.
