Sound system interference...

On Easter Day, during the sermon and following, a radio signal was picked up by our wireless microphone system causing another voice to be projected along with the Rector's. Giving that it was in a foreign language, had it been the day of Pentecost, we may have thought it was part of the sermon, but on Easter it was rather disquieting. Radio interference like this is not unheard of when using wireless systems, we're lucky our thick stone walls make it rare. A possible explanation - the Rector incorporated a CD track into the sermon. The CD player was attached to the sound system via a long cable running from the Sacristy to the pulpit. We assume this acted as an antenna to amplify the incoming signal.
A testament to our good speaker system, at first we thought the voice was live within the nave. Much thanks to numerous members of our usher guild and a few others who immediately began exploring the disturbance to assure the safety of our worshiping congregation. Special thanks to Jacob Reed who helped me trouble shoot the sound system and resolve the interference.
We can rest assured that Trinity Church was not the target of any intentional disturbance. I celebrate our city's diversity of faiths and nationalities, and welcome our neighbors' presence at Trinity even in such an unintentional way - the Day of Pentecost will be celebrated soon!

Wishing you all the joy of the Easter Season,
Kevin Wines

CURRENT NEEDS: We are in need now of toiletries, especially men's  shaving cream, men's socks and gloves, & men's deodorant. Also, a number of our guests are living without electricity so candles are always of use.
VOLUNTEERS!  And we need YOU!  Several people have had to leave the Core team of ITG lately, and we are desperately in need of committed people to keep this ministry alive and flourishing. If you want to know more about participating in ITG in the future, please contact Lori Dhiraprasiddhi or Father Burnett.

A very sincere thank you to everyone who has made a pledge commitment to Trinity Church for 2017. A list of pledgers is available here.

Spring is here!

And it’s still pretty cold. This is a tricky time of year because once the temperatures reach the low 30s the shelter overflow ends and people are outside again. Trinity is a warming station on weekdays for those who need shelter from the cold and is a cooling station in the warm weather. Our visitors need new men’s athletic socks. They also need self-opening snack items. Your continuing generosity is greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much!

We remember in prayer...

We remember all who work for peace around the world: for Capt. Kristian Tonnessen,  Petty Officer Kristy Sizemore, Jordan Sellman, Cynthia Epler, Matt Schumann, Captain Scott Whaley, Gunnery Sergeant Robert A Griffith Jr., and all who serve our country.
St. Abanoub Coptic Orthodox Church, Samanoud, Egypt
Praying for peace around the world, we continue to ask God for a deeper compassion and greater courage to offer help to refugees and migrants and all in need.
We renew our commitments to serve the neediest and most easily forgotten in our midst and remember all who are homeless and hungry in our city today.  We give thanks for the generous hospitality offered this afternoon at In The Garden, and pray for the Holy Spirit’s abundant grace in our fellowship.
We pray for all who are sick or suffering at this time – Jerry Sellman, Jean Olmstead, Dori, Brigham Page, Marjorie Holzer, Eleanor Johnson, Elizabeth Lilly, "Sean LAW-lick," Jeff McNealey, Walter Friedmann, Kay Sturm, John Sanders, Dick Oman, Sharon Whaley, David and Tyra and all in prison, and others whom we name silently or aloud.
Birthdays: Larry Crimmel, Alex Johnson, Caroline Van Deusen, Stephanie Hanna
