Green thumbs attached to helping hands needed!Franklinton Gardens is a nonprofit urban farm located in Franklinton, a historic neighborhood on the west side of Columbus. It is dedicated to growing and sharing healthy food, creating beauty in abandoned places, promoting nutrition and active living, and building community with its neighbors. St. John’s Episcopal Church on Town St. is its fiscal agent and hosts its office, a garden site and the Farmers Market on its property. Franklinton Gardens is making preparations for the new season and is looking for help from experienced organic gardeners who will mentor inexperienced "gardeners to be." Mentors are asked to commit to 1-2 hours per week from June through approximately October. If this isn't the opportunity for you, we also need help staffing the Farmers Market stand and providing cooking demonstrations at the Farmers Market stand. If you would like more information regarding the mentoring program, contact Vicki Pero at email@example.com or 614-381-7739. Contact Franklinton Gardens director Ashley Laughlin at firstname.lastname@example.org or 614-404-7525 if you are interested in other volunteer opportunities. For more information, contact the Rev. Deacon Meribah Mansfield at email@example.com or 614-766-9188.
THIS WEEK WE REMEMBER IN PRAYER:We pray for all who are sick or suffering at this time – Hal Duryee, Amelia Lewis, Katherine Hope Jones, Cynthia Callaghan, John Austen, Sr., Patricia Caldwell, Debbie Smith, Elijah Todd, Michael McKinley, Bob Park and others whom we name silently or aloud.
We pray for Seaman Kristy Olmstead, Captain Andrew Saik, Capt. Brian Smith, Cynthia Epler, Jordan Sellman, Ted Abad, Matt Schumann, Commander Scott Whaley, Specialist Michael A. Martin, Gunnery Sergeant Robert A Griffith Jr., and all who serve our country.
We remember all who work for peace around the world, especially in North Korea, Syria, Egypt, Iran & Israel, and Afghanistan.
During the Easter Season we renew our commitments to serve the poorest in our midst and remember all who are homeless and hungry in our city today. We give thanks for the generous hospitality offered this afternoon at the In The Garden, and pray for the Holy Spirit’s abundant grace in our fellowship.
